Seven Arrested at Occupy Santa Rosa Rally, All From Sonoma County
Include Petaluma and Rohnert Park residents; hundreds of protesters urge people to withdraw funds from Wells Fargo
Seven protesters were arrested during a rally and march in Santa Rosa which hundreds attended this afternoon, police said.
Activist groups, including Occupy Santa Rosa, Occupy Petaluma and the D.R.E.A.M. Alliance of Sonoma County, led the rally after organizers received a permit for the march, which began at around 1:30 p.m. near Sebastopol Road and West Avenue.
"Today was all about building alliances with the immigrant community," Occupy Santa Rosa protester Carl Patrick said.
Police estimated that about 200 protesters participated in the rally and march, while protesters estimated more than 400 people participated.
The rally began at noon at the former Albertsons supermarket parking lot at Sebastopol Road and West Avenue in Roseland, and marched to the Wells Fargo Bank at 200 B St. in downtown Santa Rosa.
At around 2:30 p.m. two protesters entered the Wells Fargo bank branch and created a disturbance, according to police.
Petaluma resident Jesse Brown, 28, and Carolyn Epple, 53, of Forestville were arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail, police said.
The bank branch then closed to avoid more incidents with protesters, police said.
About an hour later, five protesters entered a Wells Fargo bank branch at 2960 Cleveland Ave. They were asked to leave and refused, according to police, and were arrested.
They include Martin Olmsted, 21, of Petaluma; Kimberly Bringhurst, 21, of Santa Rosa; Deppin Webber, 43, of Rohnert Park; Anthony Delmonte, 34, of Healdsburg; and Julio Soto, 53, of Santa Rosa.
All of those arrested were booked into Sonoma County Jail and the bank branch also closed to avoid further conflicts, police said.
Patrick said all of the events today, including the arrests, were "totally civil and peaceful."
"The whole day was fairly calm and peaceful," he said.

Best bank I have ever done business with, and I have dealt with many in my 50+ years.. It makes perfect sense the Occupy movement wants to build some alliance with the immigrant community because they are losing the 99% from everyone I have talked with. Misery surely loves company. Disrupting a local bank does what? traumatize young bank tellers? Another black eye for the "movement" to add to the list of public relations blunders that seems to be growing each day around the country. Even Oakland;s Mayor has condemned the blocking the access to the port and so much more. No red blooded human being can sit back and not be saddened to watch human beings self destruct like this, in broad daylight, in front of onlookers and the press, and emboldening Republicans and conservative independents to take back the White House in 2012. Most Democrats are distancing themselves from this movement from what I see. Now, these people arrested have the pleasure of having their names come up every time a potential employer does a Google search on them and sees this story of lawlessness. And is it really an Occupy movement if you obtain a legal permit to march?

All events were civil and peaceful? I guess disrupting business and people's daily activities now qualifies as peaceful and civil. I'm sure those who needed to use the banks were a little ticked off. Why do these little tantrum marches always seem to end with some sort^of disturbance?

First, I don't see any recent immigrants (let's say that recent means came here to the US last 30 years) in the two photos. Secondly, I cannot support a movement that was started by a group in Canada.

Hey LP, the photos with this article are not from the destination in the story - that's made clear in the captions. Apologies for any confusion. As far as Canada... you're kidding, right?

I had thought it began in Libya and Egypt and made it's way here. The Canadian mag ADBUSTERS is credited with first creating a Twitter hash tag #OCCUPYWALLSTREET on July 13. The bottom line is that people around the world are pissed off about the un-equality and they have had enough.
I don't really care who branded it or where it began, just the fact that it exists is good enough for me. The bottom line is that all the 1% wannabees (who are in reality card-carrying members of the 99%) that are listening to their usual Fox News pablum that tells them Occupy is about dirty hippies making their parks (that they never go to anyway) dirty, etc, will benefit from the hard work the Occupy Movement is carrying out.
I'd say OCCUPYFOXNEWS is also a worthy goal because Fox is taking advantage of those that are not the brightest bulbs to start with. Oops, was that out loud?

PLEASE!!!Get off your soap box with all your tangents......you are really becoming a BORE always ridiculing anyone and anything that does not think your way....now giving YOUR point of view in a civil manner is welcomed, but to be so out spoken with the hatred you spew is a bit too much....lighten up...life is too short to have a coronary.

I think you are confused by the concept of a discussion board. This is not your personal blog that you control. Anyway, if what people write here upsets you so much, why do you bother reading it, no matter who writes it? What you said on that other thread about you sleeping with a loaded handgun under your pillow is a perfect example. Even though many people pointed out how dangerous it is to you, and anyone that may comes into your home (firemen, policemen, etc) in an emergency, you accused them of "not thinking like you do" and you attacked them, even to the point of opening a new account and pretending to be someone that agrees with you, Colt.

Go Occupy...I did NOT open a new account to post. This is my real name as I have NOTHING to hide. I also never accused ANYONE on that thread or did I attack them. I really think you need to get on some sort of medication as you are really off base with reality. These Fox NEWS rants, hippie rants, false accusations and made up stories about me and others, etc. Oh wait...its a full moon...Now that explains EVERYTHING.

I see, so you are the one bragging about sleeping with a loaded gun under your pillow from acute paranoia...and I'm the one that needs medication? Seriously, call your local mental health clinic, hospital, etc, and explain to them that you sleep with a loaded handgun under your pillow and then brag about it on chat boards, and see where the conversation goes. As far as making up anything, well, you used some of your exact phrasing from your earlier posts in your new ID "Colt" on that other thread. Book 'em Danno!
